Bnorg (B-NORG') (BN)

Physical Description: The average Bnorg male is approximately 1.9 meters tall and masses 90-110 kilograms. The average Bnorg female is approximately 1.7 meters tall and masses 80-100 kilograms. They are bilateral symmetrical, with a head which supports the brain and most of the sensory apparatus; binocular vision, hearing, olfactory. The arms are suspended from the internal skeleton in socketed joints, have a single hinge-joint elbow, and end in a hand with 4 fingers plus a single opposable thumb. The two legs have a similar structure. The epidermis is generally smooth and lightly covered with hair, although this varies widely over the surface of the body and between individuals. Pigmentation of the epidermis and hair is also widely varied. The species is bisexual, but reproduction is carried out in laboratory facilities, where the newborn are monitored and programmed for their future life within the society. Each member of the society is enhanced with various types of implants for various job duties. All Bnorg have enhanced sensory apparatus and share a computer link, which is a major portion of their psychological makeup.

History: It is believed that the Bnorg are the product of an exhaustive Rikel research project, started in Vitus System, Endeavor Sector, whose objective was to create a superior Gridran culture, much in the way that they tried to improve the Dendriti through gene splicing and genetic manipulation. Having learned from their mistakes with the Dendriti, they structured their efforts with the Bnorg to improved psychological programming and improvements on the basic Gridran implants. The Bnorg scientists have continued the research of the Rikel, being more closely in tune with their own needs and future goals.

Society: The Bnorg are a very honorable and highly structured culture. They are highly organized, with little or no individual identity and a completely decentralized government. Coordination of their governmental affairs and policy is handled through the Central Computer System. Public feeling is for the good of the whole, making the individual elements expendable. The average Bnorg is raised and educated in the laboratory. Each member has implants and programming for specific job duties. The implants and programming are determined shortly after birth of the Bnorg and is effected in the research lab. Education, during the growth years is accomplished via computer link to the young cyborgs. This computer linkup allows the entire planetary population to communicate on a daily basis, allowing for a true democracy and lack of individual identities.

The following personnel types are known to exist within Bnorg society:

BN Crew - The Bnorg crewman is a somewhat aberrant member of the Bnorg society, in that he is outside of the societal net for extended periods of time. Their contact with other societies is closely monitored and supervised by their programming and their shipboard Central Computer System, which sends periodic reports to the homeworld. Each Bnorg crewman has special implants which assist his operation of ship, as well as space and suborbital auxiliaries. Each Bnorg crewman also has a limited martial arts program, as well as combat augmentation implants consisting mainly of blades and light body armor as well as a Mark-III laser. Their standard sensory enhancements combined with the other combat augmentation make them formidable opponents in shipboard combat as compared to the average (human) crewman.

BN Warrior - The Bnorg warrior is the standard fighter of the society. The average Bnorg warrior usually stands over 2 meters in height and masses in excess of 110 kilograms. Their arms and legs are replaced with implants when they reach adulthood. Many internal organs are replaced or rearranged at this point to enhance their bodies' functionality. It is thought that they have a secondary central nervous system and heart. Synthetic armor covers the entire body of the Bnorg warrior, which makes them extremely durable in combat and many other circumstances. Their programming covers ground, city, and ship based combat. Their combat programming is such that they are convinced of the fact that they will be victorious over any opponent.

BN Scientist - The Bnorg scientist is the smallest member of the society. The Average Bnorg scientist usually stands only 1.7 meters in height and masses less than 90 kilograms. Their implants are specifically oriented to assisting them in the accomplishment of their research projects. Their programming and education is strongly oriented to the sciences from birth. They have built in computer assistance and the ability to link up with their research facility computers to speed their access to the research project data. There is a Mark-I laser built into each of their arms which gives them a limited combat ability; however, they have no built in combat programming to assist them, as do the warrior types.

BN Tech - The Bnorg tech is the backbone of the planetary society. The techs performs all the day-to-day production operations and are responsible for manufacturing, mining, city operations, and exploration duties. It is rumored that there are variant types of the tech which are specialized in one area or another. The tech has a Mark-II medium laser built into his arm and is augmented with a light synthetic armor covering portions of the body which makes him more durable in many circumstances.

There are other personnel types rumored to exist (or under development) in the Bnorg society; however, not details are available.
